The Smugglers Den is a traditional pub with an interior design largely unchanged since the buildings original conversion from coal sheds. We hope to continue this traditional pub feel whilst keeping systems as up to date as possible.
Beer Garden
The beer garden is on the river edge and affords the best views on the river, with stunning sunsets over the crouch a sight not to be missed, the garden area has bench style seating of different sizes to support larger or smaller groups, and the whole area is fenced in steel railings for safety of dogs and children on the river edge.
Open Mic Night
Our 'Open Mic' night is a 'broad brush' term for a fun night, as a spectator we have some cracking groups and individuals to entertain through the night. As a musician we have a full back line of equipment set up including Bass and Guitar amps, full PA and a quality drum kit. We can accommodate any style or requirement, be it a solo guitarist singing alone or a full group coming to show case what they can do (and maybe get booking for a Saturday night at the Smuggs) or as we find frequently individuals getting together on the night to Jam, which is why our night is more often referred to as a Jam night.
Live acts at Smugglers Den
The Smugglers Den is renowned for our live music events, recently voted as one of the top Open Mic venues in Essex.
